The Mount Boucherie Skating Club is proud to provide it’s members with a highly knowledgable, and experienced coaching team. Our coaches work as a team to ensure our skaters are provided with the best possible opportunity to achieve their maximum personal potential.
Our coaches are continually developing their skills through courses, seminars and training sessions. Coach education is a critical component of a skaters long term development.

Director of Skating - Steve Muff
Steve has coached at the Mount Boucherie Skating Club for 13 years. He is a National level NCCP Level 3 Certified coach with partial NCCP Level 4 Certification. During his time with the MBSC Steve has produced multiple Provincial Champions, Provincial Medalists, and National Competitors. He is an expert in both the DartFish Video Analysis system and Pro Motion Harness System. Since the inception of the “New Judging System” Steve has been involved with the International Skating Union working at International Events in places such as Korea, Hungary, New York, Mexico, and Halifax . Steve’s worked with Skate Canada at the last 4 National Championships as a member of the technical panel. In addition to being the Director of Skating at the MBSC, Steve is also a Development Director for Skate Canada BC/YT Section and a member of the BC/YT Section Skater Development Committee. Steve also works with high performance skaters at the Kelowna Skating Club Center of Excellence. Steve is deeply involved with the development of skating in British Columbia. Away from the rink Steve enjoys playing tennis, mountain biking, hiking and kayaking.

Director of Off Ice & Creative Development - Kelsey Williams
Kelsey is entering her fifth year as a coach at the Mount Boucherie Skating Club. She is a provincial level NCCP Level 2 Certified coach with partial NCCP Level 3 Certification. Kelsey, a high level competitive skater who spent a number of years on the BC/YT Section Provincial Team also qualified for the Skate Canada Western Challenge National qualifying event. During her time as a coach at the MBSC she has contributed to the success of a number of Provincial and National level athletes. She was the team coach for the 2011 ISU International Children’s Games, and will be the team coach for the 2012 BC Winter Games. Kelsey was a moderator at the 2011 BC/YT Section Provincial Development Seminar. She is currently enrolled in the Human Kinetics Program at Okanagan College and uses her knowledge of off-ice training and sports performance to develop training programs for the members of the MBSC. Her knowledge of music and choreography styles make her a huge asset at the MBSC. Away from the arena Kelsey loves to go running, rollerblading and regularly plays soccer.

Director of CanSkate Programs - Tamara Mapoles
Tamara has been a coach at the Mount Boucherie Skating Club for the past five years. She is a certified Level 1 NCCP coach with Level 2 course work completed and a certified CanPower Skating instructor. Tamara grew up in the Jim Lind Arena working her way up from CanSkate to a Gold level StarSkate competitor. Splitting her time between the rink and the dance studio until grade twelve, Tamara chose to pursue dance only to have an opportunity to Skate with Disney on Ice arise months later. After completing grade twelve she left to tour and perform for four years with Disney on Ice. Tamara loves being back the MBSC where she plays an active role in the skating community that she grew up in and volunteers her time as a Data Input Operator and Video Replay at a Regional, Provincial, and National level. She has a passion for passing on skating skills to the next generation. She is our Director of CanSkate. With a past of dance training Tamara enjoys working with skaters on body lines, artistry, expression, and musicality. Tamara is working towards becoming an elementary school teacher and is currently attending general arts courses at Okanagan College. When she is not at the rink or studying, Tamara likes to rock climb, hike, cross country ski, camp, and pick up the odd dance class.

Team Coach - Andrea Fleming
Andrea has been a coach for 17 years. She spent 11 years as the Head Coach at the Sunbowl Skating Club in Osoyoos and 5 years as a freelance coach with the Salmon Arm Skating Club. She is a National Level NCCP Level 3 Certfied coach. As a skater she competed at the Provincial level and skated with Disney on Ice for 3 years. She has produced many Provincial level skaters and had a number of skaters qualify for the Skate Canada Western Challenge and Skate Junior National Championships. Andrea has been a Provincial Team coach and coached at a number of Provincial Seminars. Currently she is the Okanagan Region Development Coordinator, and most recently became certified as a Skate Canada Technical Specialist. She has a daughter (Taylor) who skates in our Intermediate program. When not in the rink for figure skating Andrea can be found in the rink watching her sons play hockey. She enjoys running, boating, and camping with her husband and 3 children.
